The Story
In January of 1995, Dawn Marie made her pro wrestling debut on an independent show in New Jersey. While pursuing a modeling/acting career, Dawn had a chance meeting with friend Jonathan Gold, who had asked Dawn to sign several promotional posters for a company she was modeling for. The discussion turned to wrestling and Gold discovered Dawn was a wrestling fan and set up her first appearance on a show run by former WWF star, Hillbilly Cousin Luke.
After almost three years on the independents, Dawn's big break came in the summer of 1998 when she was contacted by Bubba Ray Dudley to come in for a tryout at the ECW Arena for Extreme Championship Wrestling. Dawn was paired with Lance Storm against former partner Chris Candido, who was being managed by Tammy Sytch (formerly known as Sunny). ECW owner Paul Heyman immediately loved the pairing of Storm and Dawn and invited her on as a full time manager.
Dawn would become a member of the "Impact Players" with Storm, Justin Credible, Jason and Jazz. She would help them go on to win the ECW World Tag Team Championship from Tommy Dreamer and Raven. They would hold onto the titles until Credible decided to vacate them to capture the World Heavyweight Championship.
Dawn would switch from manager to on air personality by adding color commentary from time to time with Don Callis and Joey Styles on TNN. She would return to managing in August of 2000, when she appeared in the corner of Steve Corino to challenge ECW Heavyweight Champion Justin Credible.
Dawn returned to the ring with her real life fiancé, Simon Diamond and his tag team partner, Swinger. The three were gaining momentum when ECW closed in January of 2001.
After the demise of ECW there was little news on what Dawn Marie was doing, until April of 2002 when Jim Ross informed us that they signed the former ECW star. For the next month there were plenty of rumors as to what she would be doing once she debuted but on May 30th our answers were solved as she debuted as a paralegal for Vince McMahon. This of course did not go well with Mr. McMahon's personal assistant Stacy. Can Dawn take away Mr. McMahon from Stacy? Only time will tell!
She went back to a minor role in June but soon returned to the spotlight at the end of June when she revealed her outfit for the Divas Undressed Special on an episode of SmackDown. She also took part of the late-night Undressed Special on June 29 and was looking very hot and stayed within her gimmick well.
In the Summer she gave Stacy Keibler important papers by mistake in order to quickly meet Mr McMahon which made Stephanie furious. She also took part in the 2002 Babe of the Year Tournie. Since then she has took part in a string of contests with Torrie Wilson such as Lingerie and Bikini and sadly lost but she did appear in the Divas Undressed Magazine and began to flirt with Torrie Wilsons dad in October which led Torrie to wrestle Dawn at the No Mercy PPV and sadly Torrie won. But Dawn Marie's role on WWE TV has grown now and so has her wrestling skills.
She would continue her feud with Torrie into December and began a relationship with Torrie's own father and is set to marry him. At Armageddon Dawn Marie showed the whole world a video of herself kissing Torrie, Torrie did this to stop Dawn from marrying her father but Dawn went back on her word. She is also featured in the December issue of RAW Magazine.
As we headed into 2003 the pair would continue to feud and Al Wilson would be killed off in a storyline, making Dawn a widow, she would then drift away from WWE TV and only show up in the odd match such as Sable's Bikini Challenge. In the spring of 2003 she took part in a tour of Asia as part of a WWE Promotional Trip.
Sadly Dawn Marie would soon vanish from our screens, taking part in off-screen promotional work for the WWE and appearing on the odd SmackDown! to take part in contests with Torrie, Sable etc. She would however remain on the house show scene and hints were that she would move over to RAW to compete for the Women's Championship but that never happened and the sexy former ECW finally returned to SmackDown in late 2003, as Paul Heyman's assistant. In the final weeks of 2003 she would take part in an history visit to Iraq, competing in a special contest to entertain the troops and would then head into 2004 as one of the main Divas of SmackDown, getting more television time than both Sable and Torrie combined. She also graces the pages of the February 2004 issue of SmackDown! Magazine and is set to be apart of the upcoming Divas 2004 Magazine, Home Video and DVD that are being released in April.
During the spring/summer Dawn has made the odd appearance on SmackDown! alongside the Great American Bash but hasn't been placed in any feuds and/or storylines. Her most recent appearance was in the SmackDown 5th Anniversary Magazine.
Dawn Marie's role on SmackDown would be reduced drastically once again. She'd be used for the odd themed contest but apart from that she was only being used on a regular basis during WWE Live Events. Dawn and Torrie were thrown into a somewhat comical match against Fabulous Moolah and Mae Young… a match that was dubbed the School Girls Match and both teams were dressed as naught little school girls. Yes you heard RedHotDivas.com… Moolah and Mae were naughty little school girls. Alongside this match, Dawn and Torrie would compete against one another in a Halloween Costume Contest and the Pilgrim/Indian Contest. Dawn would develop an interest in Charlie Haas, whose on-screen romance with Miss Jackie was blossoming. Dawn would shock fans by claiming she was having an affair with Charlie and that she was his mistress. Miss Jackie and the fans didn't believe a word of it but Dawn continued her quest to break up SmackDown's golden couple. Eventually Miss Jackie would meet the seductive Dawn Marie at the 2004 Armageddon PPV but not before a final twist was put into action. Charlie Haas was made to be the guest referee for the contest and during the match he called Dawn Marie a slut and dumped Miss Jackie. Since then Dawn Marie has continued to appear in backstage segments and helped Torrie Wilson host the 2005 Rookie Diva Contest at the No Way Out PPV. Dawn would take offence to Michelle McCool's antics during the contests and ended up confronting her. Michelle responded by body slamming Dawn into the mat. Dawn would later seek vengeance and faced Michelle in a mixed tag team match on an episode of SmackDown. Dawn would align herself with Rene Dupree whilst Michelle would enlist the help of The Big Show. Dawn lost that match but will no doubt strike Michelle again in the near distant future.
